Lexus to Commence Local Assembly Plant in India

Adding to the constantly increasing hypothesis about the debut of Lexus brand in India, a media report suggests that the automaker has started readying its assembly plant in the country. Slated to be launched next year, the initial production of the brand will be fetched here via a completely built unit route and the heavy import duties might soar up the cost of its vehicles as well. Toyota, the parent company of the Lexus has chosen to set its plant in Bengaluru. One such move is going to be shifting of water-based paints that are also used by company’s models.

Lexus is Coming in India Soon

With information available, the firm is likely to start assembling it hybrid cars at first, out of which the Lexus ES 300h range will possibly the very first one to be designed in the country. Not only the taxes that are going to be reduced but, the company will also have benefits of the vehicle tax sop under FAME scheme. Well, cars such as the Toyota Camry hybrid is already garnering such benefits, the updated version of which has been launched back in 2015 in India.  

Lexus LX 450d Arrived in India for Homologation Purpose

At the beginning, the manufacturer will start with a handful of the dealerships at the metro cities in India, however, the number will be increased in the coming years. If the rumours are to be believed, the product portfolio of the Lexus will be comprised of hybrid cars with sedan and SUV as well. As we wrote earlier that the ES 300h hybrid sedan has been imported to the country for homologation purpose followed by LX 450d SUV that is hinting about the arrival of both the units in India.
