Mahindra Confirms Next-gen, Will Not Participate in Auto Expo 2020

There is no surprise that next-gen Mahindra Thar is in the mid of development process. Meticulous testing is taking place by Mahindra for its next-gen variant that is going to boast diversified configurations and define the Mahindra’s dynamic and iconic off-roader.

For the first time, today, it was confirmed by the company that the next-gen Thar is under the development process and will encounter an international premiere in 2020. At the same time, it is highly anticipated that this model will not be unveiled in the Auto Expo 2020 and it will make an astounding entry in some other event post Expo 2020.

Again, we have come with a set of spy shots of the forthcoming new Mahindra Thar SUV clicked while it is being tested in different stages. The clicks endorse that the new Thar is in its near-to-production stage.

The design of the new Thar’s design resembles retro Mahindra Jeep cues, however innovative features such as LED tail lamps, LED daytime running lights and some other updated & trendy components, will surely be its features, where a higher-set front bumper with unified fog lamps will not be the exceptions.

The new Thar will inherit the Mahindra’s features like the side-opening rear door and spare tyre mount. It is also expected that it will arrive in multiple variants with 18-inch alloy wheels, larger higher trims and an array of comfortable features.

It seems that the upcoming Thar confirms a lot of comfort for the commuters and is a way lesser functional in comparison to its predecessor.

The interior seems all updated with a new dashboard layout and a touchscreen infotainment system. This is the first time that Mahindra has featured touchscreen infotainment system which is anticipated to arrive with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Another notable feature of this touchscreen infotainment system is that it gets double to be converted into a display for the reverse camera.

Multiple USB outlets and inherited manual HVAC system add to the features of the upcoming Mahindra SUV.

As far as safety features are concerned, the new Thar will feature dual front airbags, a big multi-info display and power-folding wing mirrors along with front-facing seats for the second row of the oncoming SUV.

The New Thar will now come equipped with the very popular 2.2-litre diesel engine comply to BS6 emission standards. The engine will also have an auto start-stop function and generated 140 hp. The same engine will also be present in Scorpio and  Mahindra TUV300 Plus when they will make a shift to new emission standards. The new engine is also expected to come equipped with 6-speed manual gearbox with automatic transmission function.

Although, the new Thar is not likely to be present at Auto Expo 2020.
