Mahindra S201 Sub-4m SUV Spotted Once Again

New Mahindra S201 Sub-4m SUV spotted again in India before the launch. This time, the test mule was seen in new tail lamps and alloy wheels. The SUV takes inspiration from the SsangYong Tivoli revealed during the 2016 Auto Expo. It will compete the Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, and Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza.

The testing of the Tivoli started in India just after the debut at India auto show 2016. Although, another test mule with under four metres in length and similar silhouette as Tivoli was spotted later. It is Tivoli with a revised front and rear profiles to maintain under 4 meters.

To reduce the tax in India and get benefits, the manufacturers mainly focus on length up to 4 metres. Further, the leaked images mention a modified styling at the rear part as compared to the Tivoli. New SUV features the moved up license plate on bootlid and LED elements in the periphery along with vertically stacked tail lamps and a wrap-around layout.

However, doors, characters lines, side profile are similar to the Tivoli, alloy wheels make the difference in duet. The test mule will take 17-inch wheels and it is the only sub-4m SUV to take 17-inch wheels.

The interior and front show the likeness to the Tivoli with subtle changes. Coming to the power, it is expected to take a 1.5-litre diesel and a turbocharged version. There is no powertrain specification out with the KUV100’s 1.2-litre petrol motor. At the time of launch, it is expected to price at Rs 7.82 lakh-Rs 11.35 lakh in ex-showroom. With the launch, it will join the Mahindra SUV series including the NuvoSport and the TUV300.
