Mahindra Thar Getting Ready for a Facelift

India's leading car manufacturer Mahindra has big plans for the year 2015 and the company would be launching many new vehicles and of course the facelifts of its currently ongoing cars. We also had you informed a couple of days back that its popular SUV XUV500 has been spotted as a facelift test vehicle with the possibilities of getting a hybrid train or even an AMT transmission system as well. Now, another car which is about to get the new looks and improved efficiency from the manufacturer is its classic off-roader Thar. This vehicle has been iconic in terms of sales and setting the image of Mahindra as a true dominant not only in the Indian market, but overseas as well.

For now, Thar comes with a couple of engine options, which are 2.5 Litre CRDe offering 105 bhp power and 247 Nm torque and 2.5 Litre Di (Base Model) churning out 63 bhp power and 182.5 Nm torque. For the facelift, Mahindra might offer a 1.5 Litre 3 Cylinder diesel engine inherited from its Quanto MUV generating 100 bhp power and 240 Nm of torque with a possible AMT option as well.

Coming to the cosmetic changes, there wouldn't be any major changes, but a few subtle ones only to make it look a bit different. The launch date hasn't been finalized yet, however, the chances are strong that it might launch sometime during the 2nd half of the year 2015.
