Maruti Ignis Hybrid Spied Completely Undisguised

Seems like, India’s largest automaker Maruti doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned in order to get the head to head with its rivals. Recently, it was surrounded in the news for bringing a new generation Alto 800 with an aim to compete with its rival Kwid hatch and now, the company has been boosting the traffic on the internet for the speculation about the launching of its new hybrid player here in the country. Christened as Ignis, the mini crossover will go up against likes of the Mahindra KUV 100. Some images of the said unit have already been surfaced online ahead of its expected launch in coming months and revealed more than a few information.

Thanks to GaadiWaadi that has released clear and obvious images which were captured in an Asian Country and unveiled information of both the exterior and interior. Making a short note from the pictures, it has been cleared that the Ignis receives a fresh design language which is completed with a further attachment like LED daytime running lights integrated into the boxy front fascia, an angular greenhouse, flared wheel arches, a wide C-pillar and a wedge-shaped rear profile.

Some of the other noticeable features that might be seen with the Ignis are - chrome-lined grille, projector headlights, blacked-out A and B pillars, turn indicators on ORVMs, 18-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, clam-shell bonnet, bumpers with black inserts, windscreen wiper, rear mounted spoiler and flared rear arches excavating three-slats above rear wheel arch.

Apart from the wheelbase of 2435 mm, the crossover is built with a length of 3700 mm, a width of 1595 mm and has a height of 1660 mm. Besides, it stands at 180 mm of ride height that is good enough to run comfortably at both on and off road. Inside the cabin, it will come loaded with an audio system based on high-end Harman Kardon that is also exclusive in its class. Besides, it will also get smartphone integration facility, navigation support and voice recognition function as well. Moreover, the dual-tone dashboard houses a touchscreen infotainment system to have information in a better way.

Once landed here in the country, it will definitely garner a good review from the consumers for its most swanky and advanced interior against other cars that fit in the range. For safety, it will be equipped with features like dual airbags, hill descent control, ABS (Anti-lock braking system) with EBD (Electronic brakeforce distribution) and reverse camera with parking sensors. 

Under the hood, it is likely to be powered by both petrol and diesel engine options. The former is expected to get a 1.2-litre K-Series trim that generates 83 Bhp of power with 115 Nm of torque and the latter will host a 1.3-litre DDiS mill that is tuned to belt out 74 Bhp of power and 190 Nm of torque. As rumors hint, the petrol unit will be mated to an optional CVT (Continuously Varying Transmission) box against to AMT. While a 5-speed manual transmission unit will be offered as a standard attachment, the list will probably include a 4-speed automatic gearbox as well.

As the model is going to be manufactured locally, it is said to be tagged with a competitive priced i.e near INR 6.0 Lakhs for the entry level unit and goes up to about INR 8.0 Lakhs (Ex-showroom) for high-spec trim. Also, it is reported that Maruti Ignis will be sold via the company’s Nexa premium dealerships.
