After the showcase of Ignis Concept at the 2016 Auto Expo, Maruti had announced that a launch around festive season will happen. And now the market reports have speculated that this festive season could be this year's Diwali, which usually takes place in November. If it happens, Mahindra KUV100 is definitely going to face a serious challenge here. It would be interesting to see two indigenous brands fighting against each other.
If the dimensions are to discussed, one would find a lot of similarity between KUV100 and the upcoming Ignis. It is 3,693 mm long, and carries a wheelbase of 2,438 mm. Though, its height is lesser than the Mahindra model, but when it comes to styling, Maruti surely knows how to do the job right! It is neatly designed with an attractive grille on the bumper and stylish headlamps. The car has a robust stance and elements like LED DRLs, tail lamps are hard to miss.
Moving inside the Ignis, there is plenty of space for the occupants with enough amount of legroom. The dashboard reflects a dual tone color combination and the centre console contains hi-tech tablets resembling with those equipped in Mercedes A-Class. The all new steering wheel is fitted with control buttons and comfort features are just bang on!
Mechanically, the Maruti Ignis will be offered with engine borrowed from the likes of Baleno and Swift containing both diesel and petrol motors. There is even a possibility of an SHVS version at a later date. The car will be sold from Nexa outlets and could be priced within the bracket of INR 5-8 Lacs.
