Maruti Suzuki launched the CelerioX in India at a price tag of Rs. 4.57 lakhs (ex-showroom India). As per the name guides, this is an updated model of the Celerio which is designed to make it more crossover alike. The newly launched CelerioX has eight variants, five variants in the different color scheme and one in petrol engine variant. The CelerioX hatchback crossover has been priced Rs. 8000 more over the standard variant and is in the market with VXi and ZXi models onwards.
Considering the SUV publicity in India, the Celerio obtains an updated fascia with side skirts, sportier bumpers, and black alloy wheels (in ZXi variant only). It seems like the skirt surrounding the ends has apparently revised to make more appealing edges with larger rear-end appearance than normal cars. The wheelbase, width, and height of the car are same as standard cars but the length is revised and enhanced to 100mm longer.
Looking at inside styling, it gets the same features, elements, and layouts in the cabin like the standard version of the car. But now the CelerioX is trimmed out in the black finish along with the fabric color matching with the body color of the car. The new SUV is powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder engine which is able to churn out a maximum power of 67bhp and a peak torque of 90Nm. The engine of the car is mated to a five-speed AMT which is also named as AGS (auto gear shift) in Maruti.
On the launch of Maruti CelerioX, senior executive director at marketing and sales, R S Kalsi said “The Celerio has successfully carved a unique position for itself in the competitive compact car segment. With CelerioX, Maruti Suzuki aims to give this well-accepted model a bold, stylish and sporty makeover as per the changing preferences of young and social savvy consumers. We are confident that CelerioX will enhance the brand and bring in younger customers.”
