Booking for the Maruti Ignis, which is set to be launched here in the country on January 13, 2017, has been commenced at the Nexa website at a token amount of INR 11,000. Claimed to be the country’s first Premium Urban Compact vehicle, it will be offered with 14 different variants across both petrol and diesel engine option. As we wrote in our earlier report of Ignis Variant List Leaked Online, it will also come up with an AMT derivative with both fuel types along with a taxi unit as well.
On the mechanical front, the petrol-powered Maruti Ignis gets a K-Series 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 61 kw/85bhp of power at 6000 rpm. The diesel-powered unit, on the other hand, comes with a 1.3-litre unit making out a power of 75 bhp with 190 Nm of torque. An AMT option will be available with the Zeta and Delta trim levels while the top-end variant, Alpha will be offered only with a 5-speed manual.
Once launched here in the country, the Maruti Ignis will be retailed through the same Nexa Dealership which is currently offering the Baleno hatchback and S-cross crossover. Pricing details are yet to be revealed but we can expect it to be priced between INR 6.5 Lakh to INR 9.5 Lakh (Ex-showroom).
