Mercedes-Benz E 220 d Launched in India, Priced at Rs. 57.14 Lakh

Mercedes-Benz has expanded its long-wheelbase E-Class lineup in India, with the introduction of a more affordable baby diesel, the E 220d at the price of Rs. 57.14 lakh, ex-showroom, Pune. This new diesel- the E 220d fills the gap between the top end diesel E 350d and the standard petrol E 200 variant and offers a pure chauffeur-driven sedan to the buyers. In India, the available E-Class is the only long wheelbase version and is an ideal option for a luxurious rear seat experience. According to the Mercedes, the ownership cost of the E 220 d is the least in the E-Class range and the service packages for this most affordable sedan will start from Rs 76,600 and will valid for two years.



Under the hood, the E 220 d get propelling power from the company’s first all-aluminium 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. Mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, the engine is capable of sending 194PS of maximum power and 400Nm of peak torque to the rear wheel. The generated power output makes it equal to the available rivals in the segment. This powerful engine assembly lets the E-Class to attain speed in triple digits from standstill in 7.8 seconds only, altogether, it can hit the top speed of 240kmph.



Other than this, two more options are also there in the portfolio, the one is bigger diesel and the other one is a petrol variant. The bigger diesel trim with a 3.0 litre V6 engine uses monstrous power of 258PS along with 620Nm peak torque. While the petrol one, which is powered by a 2.0-litre motor propel with the aids of 184PS power and 300Nm torque. Despite the big difference in power as against to the bigger diesel motor, the new E 220 d is perfect deal for those looking for seating at the rear seats and going through luxurious presentations while the chauffeur will handle the daily traffic. Also, there is no need of mentioning that the smaller diesel is much more efficient.



The E-Class is the only car in its segment which underpins the extended wheelbase that is comparatively 186mm longer than the standard sedan.
