Mercedes-Benz G-Class Gets Special Edition G-Wagens

Mercedes-Benz has dropped the curtains from the four new special editions of its iconic G-Wagon SUV. All four G-Wagons have been created with different cosmetic ideas and will be produced in limited numbers. These four special editions are further categories into two different categories - Designo Manufaktur Edition & Exclusive Edition.

The G-Wagon is the company’s first-ever SUV and has been on sale since 1979 without any vital makeover and now the carmaker decided to give a urban-luxurious drop top treatment under the moniker of the special edition. It clearly indicates that it’s hard for the German carmaker to say goodbye to its legendary four-wheel drive.

Let’s give you a tour of the newest German off-roader toys, what are they hiding beneath the front end and inside the cabin:

Designo Manufaktur Edition -

Mercedes-Benz G 350 d and G 500 Designo Manufaktur Edition

The 2017 Designo Manufaktur Edition range include Mercedes-Benz G 350 d and G 500 SUVs. However, the G-Class designo manufaktur range has already been on sale in the European market since 2015. A tailor made appointment, traditional workmanship and the highest quality - this is how exactly Mercedes-Benz defines its new range. And you can’t argue on any of those!

The German auto giant’s obsession with black colour is clearly evident through inside out of the car. On the exteriors, the AMG five-spoke alloy wheels, side rub strips, the three louvres of the grille, outside mirrors and the spare wheel cover are painted in obsidian black colour. For the outside body shade, the carmaker offers 3 different colour options - designo magma red, designo mystic white and obsidian black.

Similar colour fondness can be noticed inside the cabin as well in form of black designo nappa leather with red stitching on the seat upholstery and the steering wheel, trim in black designo piano lacquer with red seat belts, black grab handles in the roof liner and an engraved ‘designo manufaktur’ title on the centre console next to gear knob. Other standard details of these special editions include Sport Package that further adds goody bags to the car such as exterior stainless steel package, an exclusive package which enhances seat comfort and the chrome package.

Exclusive Edition -

Mercedes-Benz G-Class Special Exclusive Edition G-Wagens

The 2017 range of G-Class Exclusive Edition is available with the Mercedes G 63 and the G 65 variants. What makes the exclusive edition distinguish from the designo manufaktur edition? Starting with the exteriors, on the exclusive edition, the variant gets specific stainless steel guard at the front, AMG sport stripes running along the sides, rub strips with the dark aluminium finish and spare wheel painted in body colour.

While the G 63 wagon rides on five-dual-spoke matte black alloy wheels, the G 65 gets ceramically finished five-twin-spoke alloy wheels. However, both the variants are covered with matt paint finish AMG monza grey magno which is exclusively available with this edition.

The special edition is equally stunning and alluring from the inside as well. The standard trim is blessed with designo exclusive package with dual tone dash featuring leather accent and AMG sports seat with the same dual-tone colour scheme. Also, buyers have an option to avail two-tone designo nappa leather in six colours. Other optional details include a choice between AMG Carbon and black designo piano lacquer trim, designo seat belts in red, leather-clad grab handles and dual-tone AMG performance steering wheel painted in the seat colours.
