Mercedes-Benz, a German auto subsidiary has launched the GLC SUV in the country at the price of INR 50.7 Lakhs for GLC 220d and INR 50.9 Lakhs for GLC 300 (Both Ex-showroom). It is based on the same platform, which currently underpins the C-Class sedan. Like most of the Mercedes cars it will also be imported through CBU (Completely Built Units) route. It slots between the entry level GLA and the full sized GLE SUV. It was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, Delhi.
As a premium luxury 5 seater option, the car will get into a tough competition with Audi Q5 and BMW X3. The GLC SUV is available with 5 different modes namely Comfort, Eco, Sport, Sport+ and Individual. Further, you will also get to use three different off-roads mode on the GLC. Moreover, it also have five exterior color options.
Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV has got both petrol and diesel engine choices GLC 220D and GLC 300. The specification of the petrol engine includes a 2.0-litre, 4 cylinder gasoline motor that makes a power of 245 Bhp and a torque of 370 Nm.
On the other hand, diesel comes with a displacement of 2143 cc, 4 cylinder mill, generating 170 Bhp of power at the rate of 3000-4200 rpm and 400 Nm of peak torque at the rate of 1400-2800 rpm. Both engines are mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission comes standard with GLC.
With all this configuration, petrol engine enables the car to do 0-100 in just 6.5 seconds as well as to reach at a top speed of 222 kmph. Meanwhile, the diesel will take little more time of 18 seconds to do 0-100 and also slightly less with a top speed that is calculated as 210 kmph.

Apart from the wheelbase of 2,874 mm, the length, height and width are measured at 4,656 mm, 1,644 mm, 2,096 mm respectively. You can also carry a large amount of luggage with this model that offers you a boot space of 550 litres and can also be expanded to 1,600 litres.
For safety, the variant gets 7-airbags, ABS (Anti-lock braking system), ESP (Electronic stability control) and ETS (Enhanced Traction System), which are certified by NCAP with a five star rating.
