The Mercedes-Benz S400 has finally made its way to the Indian Auto market with a price tag of of Rs 1.28 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). It fits nicely in between the luxury and performance centered sedan segment. It will be seen alongside the other prominent models from the automaker like S500 and S350 CDI.
The Mercedes-Benz S400 is the second launch in the country, which is one of the claimed twelve launches for this year. It comes powered by a a 3.0-litre, V6 petrol engine that effectrively propels 324bhp of power and 480Nm of torque. The powermill gets mated to a 7G-Tronic automatic gearbox. As of now, the automaker has no plans to introduce the hybrid version at this moment.The sedan has been offered with almost all major features that are available in its lineup.
As far as the design is concerned, the model continues to sport the traditional badge without much tweak. It comes loaded with array of safety equipments such as ABS, EBD and eight airbags for all-round protection. Meanwhile, the interiors are upmarket, comfortable, and appealing. The centre console gets Merc’s COMAND infotainment system and a digital instrument cluster as well.
The Mercedes S400 holds close rivalry with the Jaguar XJ L 2.0 which comes powered by a 2-litre gasoline engine. The Jaguar XJ L 2.0 is available at Rs 97 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
