The German luxury auto-giant has displayed its pure electric SUV concept, the Generation EQ at 2016 Paris Motor Show. The concept SUV looks much similar to the current GLC model of the brand.
Mercedes’s claims that the same architecture that underpins this all-wheel drive SUV, Generation EQ concept, can also be used for saloon, sedan, cabriolet and other types of vehicles, as it features modular component system.
Inside, the car gets a 24-inch TFT screen along with the steering wheel that uses two OLED touchscreens and replaces the traditional instrument cluster. Instead of the buttons and knobs control, it comes with the touch-sensitive screen. In addition to this, there is pair of screens fitted on the doors which display the images recorded by the rear view camera.
On the power front, this zero-emissions SUV gets two electric motors that are fitted on both axles and churn out a combined power output of 402 bhp and 700Nm of torque. Mercedes claims that these figures are sufficient to thrust this concept to 100 kmph from standstill, in less than five seconds. The concept SUV gets floor-mounted battery pack arrangement which offers a driving range of 500km, and features quick charging capabilities.
The exterior highlights include side cameras instead of the traditional mirrors, hidden door handles, concealed windscreen wipers. The large 21-inch wheels enhance the muscular design of the cars. Besides, the SUV gets a new paint shade named, “alubeam silver” which is fresh to their electric-series.
