New Ducati Multistrada 950 Break Covers at Pre-EICMA 2016 Conference

The Italian bike maker, Ducati has pulled the curtains off from an all-new Multistrada 950 adventure tourer. The bike has been unveiled at a pre-commenced media conference just before the 2016 EICMA Motorcycle Show in Italy. It will be the entry level product in the most versatile touring Multistrada family. This new and low-capacity model is the best option for those who have been restricted to buy the best among global adventure tourers, the Ducati Multistrada 1200. The price and accessibility are the major reasons. And, the sheer size of the tourer can be counted as the second factor for not been opted by the desired numbers of buyers. A strong belief suggests that the Multistrada 950 will become successful in carrying forward the cult status of Multistrada adventure bikes, in the Indian market.

Ergonomically smaller in size, the Ducati Multistrada 950 houses a low capacity engine. A 937cc liquid-cooled Testastretta L-twin powerplant has been taken from the Hypermotard 939. The mill is rated to belt out power figures as 115PS and 96Nm. This improved Euro 4 emission norm compliant powertrain has also been tuned to generate over 80 percent torque in the mid range of 3,500-9,500 rpm.

The concatenated cycle parts include double-sided swingarm, 48mm dia USD front forks with adjustable spring pre-load and Sachs monoshock along with adjustable spring pre-load with compression and rebound damping for suspension duties. While, for braking aids, Ducati has equipped this smaller Multistrada with dual 320mm front discs and a 265mm rear disc, which are in association with Brembo floating caliper to both wheels.

Moreover, the latest Multistrada 950 is packed with an array of tech-genius features like Ducati Safety Pack, which in the constitution with the Bosch 9.1 MP ABS with 3-level adjustment and 8-level Ducati Traction Control and the facility of four riding modes(Touring, Sport, Urban and Enduro) is also being availed for the buyers. All these electronic utilities can be personalized as per the rider’s need.

As of now, the auto major did not reveal any price figures but suspected to unveil in coming days. The Indian launch of this entry level adventure tourer is likely to take place sometime in early next year. Expected to fall into the price bucket of INR 11-13 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), the motorcycle will compete against the likes of Triumph Tiger, Honda Africa Twin, Kawasaki Versys 1000 and Suzuki V-Strom.
