New Hyundai Santro 2018 (Codenamed AH) Spied Testing in India

As reported earlier this year, the South Korean automotive giant, Hyundai is planning to expand its Indian product portfolio with the introduction of an all-new hatchback. The model that take place beneath the Grand i10 has been surfaced online via a spy picture. Through the spy image, it has been confirmed that this new model is in its final stages of development and ready to make its debut at the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo. Exclusively manufactured to target the Indian audience, the new model will replace the outdated Eon and the discontinued i10 in the model range.

Internally codenamed as the Hyundai AH, the new Santro 2018 will be a more practical model with an expected spacious interior. In the segment, it will go in competition with the likes of the Maruti Celerio, Maruti Alto, Renault KWID and Tata Tiago.

From the images, the overall silhouette of the car has been revealed as it is carrying the “tall-boy” (read high roof) design of the Santro with contemporary looks. While there is no information regarding the interior of the spied test mule though it is expected to be loaded with all the necessary and in trend creature comforts in true Hyundai fashion.

Powering for the budget hatchback will come from an 800cc and 1.0-litre Kappa motor that will be in association with a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic transmission. Other than this, an AMT transmission is also expected to be provided on offer.

In terms of pricing, the upcoming Santro is likely to be priced at an introductory price sticker of INR 3lakh that will go upto INR 5 lakh (ex-showroom). Its launch is expected by mid 2018.
