New Kia K5 Chinese Version Unscrewed in Shanghai

Kia has revealed the Chinese K5 sedan facelift model in China at the 2015 Shanghai Motor Show. Notably, this variant can be distinguished from the recently debuted latest Kia Optima for other automobile markets, via the aesthetic components that have been embraced on its exterior. Apart from these styling elements, both cars will be same with brand's design philosophy alongside projector headlights, slender daylight opening, tigernose grille and tail section. However, the runabout showcased at this ongoing Auto Event gets some unique furnishings with a trapezoidal lower grille design, long chrome strip, stunning alloy wheels and twin exhaust pipes.

Kia Optima

Based on the seventh generation Hyundai Sonata (LF), half of its body parts have been built from high strength steel. Globally, it gets total three petrol, one diesel and hybrid variants. All three gasoline mills are powered by a turbocharged 1.6 litre, 2.0 litre turbocharged and a naturally aspirated 2.4 litre units, respectively. On the other hand, an oil burner option comes with a 1.7 litre engine, while a hybrid version comprises a 2.0 litre petrol mill and a 30 kW electric motor. Fewer powertrain choices are mated to a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission, which does its duty beneath the skin by transferring an incredible power to the wheels of K5.

Kia Optima

This mid size sedan will be manufactured under the joint venture of Donfeng, Yueda and Kia. The runabout will compete against the Toyota Camry, Volkswagen Passat and the Peugeot 508.
