The next generation YZF-R25 (YZF-R3) is under discussion among the biking enthusiasts and experts. Already a digital render which was showcasing an extensive upgrade has been rolled out by motoring forums. However, there is no official words from the manufacturer regarding its arrival in the global market. So the question arises what would the new and improved YZF-R25/YZF-R3 will offer. But fortunately, a set of spy images including two test mules has been surfaced online via a motoring portal, Macantua.
Ahead of discussing the details of the spied test mules. Let me remind you once that both the Yamaha YZF-R25 / Yamaha YZF-R3 share identical design. So whatever changes one will get the other will reflect the same.
The spy set of images are revealing a dual, full-LED headlight with an air-intake amidst, as similar to the new 2018 Yamaha YZF-R15. In addition to this, the suspension setup which is a conventional telescopic unit on the current generation models will be superseded by the USD front forks. For a recall, the international specs of Yamaha YZF-R15 also feature the same. Whereas the India-spec model receives conventional front forks. The official unveiling will only tell that the India-spec Yamaha YZF-R3 will get these latest hardware or not?
Other than this, the prototype models do not appear much different from the current generation models. At the cosmetic front, we could see new colour options and graphics job which will increase the choices to select your suit.
Beneath the fuel tank, we are expecting the similar 321 cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line 2-cylinder, fuel-injected engine on the ongoing model. The engine is rated to produce the peak power of 42 PS at 10,750 rpm along with the peak torque of 29.6Nm at 9,000 rpm.
If the pricing is concerned, we could see a premium price tag over the current model for such additions. As of now, the India-spec YZF-R3 is on sale at the price sticker of INR 348,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).
The launch timeline is not revealed yet. But the surfaced images are showcasing prototypes without any camouflage, which makes us believe to be the production-ready model. For further information, stay tuned with us, as the brand may roll out some details in near future.
