Next Generation Toyota Prius Specifications Officially Released

The Japanese automaker Toyota has just unveiled the mechanical and technical specs of its upcoming Prius model. This next generation car will be available with hybrid powertrain and is quite popular in its home country among the hybrid vehicles. Although the car will be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show, the company has already unwrapped the details. I guess, Toyota didn't want to keep the fans waiting anymore. Visually, the car has grown longer by 60 mm than its predecessor thereby reaching to the length of 4540 mm. Further, the wheelbase is same i.e. 2700 mm, while the Boot capacity has extended from 445 litres to 502 litres. Underpinned by Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform, the hybrid batteries have been placed below the rear seats and handling has been improved. Headlights are more pronounced, C-Pillar gets blackened, and the rear spoiler integrated with the sloping roofline is just mesmerising.

The fact that it's a hybrid makes it obvious that the mechanical power comes from an integration of petrol and electric motors. The former makes 97 Bhp and 105 lb ft torque, while the battery develops 71 Bhp of output. The regenerative braking system has been updated, thereby utilising a new hydraulic booster. It works without any noise and gives a pleasant driving experience. The actual emission figure has not been disclosed yet, however it is being claimed that the new Prius will be 18 % more efficient than the outgoing one.
