No Plans For KTM Duke 690 in India- Officially Confirmed

Cleared the surfaced rumors of bigger Dukes’ plausible launch in India, Mr. Amit Nandi, VP, probiking-liable for KTM Motorcycles sell in India, has officially confirmed that as of now, there is no plan of introducing bigger KTM bikes in India, at all. Even, he clearly indicated that they are not concerning to think in this matter.

He further elaborated also that why they are not considering in this direction, as the Indian market is not that ready to adopt this kind of higher capacity product. So they would like to let the market evolve first. And, it will really be unfair if they launch this kind of products before providing a proper service (spares) etc. for the bikes, it will be an injustice to them.

An another reason which will support the launch of bigger displacement bikes is their expensive price stickers because those will be brought to the Indian market all the way through CBU route and currently there are not many buyers for these mid-capacity motorcycles. However, the available Dukes and RCs are being manufactured in India. So they become available at an aggressive price sticker which helps the bike maker to attract a good audience.

Moreover, as we mentioned above that currently there are not many buyers for these mid-capacity motorcycles, so the manufacturing for lower volumes of these bigger capacity motorcycles in India will cost really much for the bike maker.

Nonetheless, the bottom line is – this is not the right time for the bigger Dukes and other KTMs in India and from the Mr. Nandi words it is also clear that it will take a couple of years to launch these mid-capacity motorcycles in the country.
