Norton Commando Sport is a neo-classic roadster in the Commando range of motorcycles which also consists a sportier variant, the Cafe Racer. Both the variants are all set to hit the Indian ground by the end of July this year, as revealed by the sources. The emergence of the most iconic motorcycle maker, Norton Motorcycles in India, was already been confirmed by the brand in October last year with an alliance signed with Kinetic Group. In India, the bikes will be provided in a limited count and all the way from CBU route. Later on, post the success of the first phase, the brand will start manufacturing motorcycles at the Kinetic-Norton’s facility in Ahmednagar, Maharashtra. The operations of local assembly of the products are expected to begin in late-2018 or early-2019.

The more exclusive Norton Dominator variant from the manufacturer is likely to be produced in India. The motorcycle consists of premium cycle parts like Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes and lightweight carbon-fibre bodywork.

Mechanically, the Commando and the Dominator will be packed with the similar 961cc, air-cooled, parallel twin engine. In integration with a 5-speed gearbox, the engine is rated to churn out the maximum power of 80PS at 6500rpm and 90Nm at 5200rpm.

The retailing responsibility of Norton Motorcycles will be handled by the Kinetic-owned MotorRoyale. The same dealership outlet that offers sales and services for the MV Agusta motorcycles. Furthermore, going to mark its official entry in the Indian market soon, SWM Motorcycles will also sales its motorcycles under the same umbrella. Besides, these Commando and Dominator models, the Norton is also working on a new platform to develop a small capacity engine that will be launch in the Indian market and other mass markets like India.
