Paris Motor Show 2016: BMW X2 SUV Concept Unwrapped

In the maniac of introducing their latest automotive creations to the world, the auto-manufacturer across the globe have been gathered in Paris. And the show is about to begin, the German auto manufacturer, BMW which is renowned for producing luxury vehicles is no untouched with this, came up with its all-new X2 SUV concept at Paris Motor Show 2016. The concept discloses the exterior details of the car at the show. This brand new X2 SUV will go on sale in the global market by the first half of 2018.

This BMW X2 appears to be the enhanced sporty version of the recently launched second generation X1, and will be the sixth SUV offering by the brand in the international market. Moreover, it will be the second model to be based on the highly versatile UKL platform that will also be seen on the upcoming second generation Mini Countryman.

Beneath the front end, similar to the X1, the new X2 will also offer a range of transversely mounted four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines. On the petrol-powered X2, there will be one variant in the form of the X2 xDrive20i, which features a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, capable of producing maximum power of 192hp.

Whereas, the diesel-fueled X2, all three variants will be powered by BMW’s widely used 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel mill – the X2 xdrive18d with 150hp, the X2 xDrive 20d with 193hp and the X2 xDrive25d with 230hp. On a later date, the company may also introduce a sporting M-Performance model which will feature a more heavily tuned version of the X2 xDrive20i’s turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine developing a maximum power around 304 hp.

The transmission will be offered with the choice of a standard six-speed manual or optional six-speed automatic along with the option of either rear- or four-wheel drive in combination with selected engines.
