Production of India-bound Renault Kaptur Begins at Moscow Plant

Renault has started the production of the India-bound Kaptur at its Moscow Plant. This is first time in the history of the automotive sector that a global model is being produced in Russia. The company has planned the deliveries of the Kaptur model in Kazakhstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Armenia to be done this year itself. Later on, the car will be exported to south Asian countries by next year.

Dimensionally, the Renault Kaptur measures 4,333 mm in length, 1,813 mm in width and 1,613 in height, and holds a wheelbase of 2,674 mm. It offers a ground clearance of 204 mm, along with a generous boot capacity of 387 litres. The powertrain and mileage specifications will be announced later on by mid 2016.

However, some reports hint that the Kaptur will be launched in Brazil powered with 1.6- and 2.0-litre flex-fuel engines in 2WD & 4WD drivetrain. It is expected to be launched in India by October 2017, offering more power and off road capability. In India, Kaptur will be produced at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant located in Oragadam, Chennai.
