Proton Looking to Launch in India

India becoming a great market for the car companies to launch and sell their vehicles in bulk. There have been many cars launched in the year 2014 and the trend is to continue in 2015 as well. Seeing this, the Malaysian car maker Proton is looking to enter in the country with its Iriz hatchback car. It's thinking to bring the car as Mitsubishi does, that is by assembling the cars into Hindustan Motors assembly plant. The method is beneficial for not reducing the car price as it would be CKD unit, but to understand the market and it's policies before investing in high amounts. However, nothing is sure yet from the company as it's just seeking the routes for a collaboration.

Coming to car, if launched though, would be the Iriz hatchback which is sub-4 meter in length with 3920 mm to be exact and 2555 mm wheelbase. The car will take on the flag against the likes of Maruti Suzuki Swift, Volkswagen Polo and Hyundai Gran i10. For the international market, it's powered by 1.3 Litre and 1.6 Litre VVT petrol engine. Although the engine has to be under 1.2 Litre to get the necessary excise duty off.

Mr. Abdul Rashid Bin Musa, Chief Technical Officer of Proton also said that the company is looking to overcome certain barriers that are causing a hindrance to the launch of the brand. Though nothing can be said with surety except the fact that India really has gain the attention from all over the world in every niche with automobile looking to be very much of need for global manufacturers.
