Renault Kwid Hatchback Failed in Global NCAP Crash Test

Renault Kwid hatchback has been failed, when it went through a Global NCAP test. The New Car Assessment Program has rated the car with zero stars for adult passenger protection. All the three variants were tested at the speed of 64 km/h and each of them has come out with the same result.

Mr. David Ward, Secretary General of Global NCAP, said, "The latest SaferCarsforIndia results show how important it is for cars to have a body shell that can remain stable in a crash. This is an absolutely crucial pre-requisite for occupant safety together with fitment at least of front air bags. It is very surprising that a manufacturer like Renault introduced the Kwid initially lacking this essential feature. Global NCAP strongly believes that no manufacturer anywhere in the world should be developing new models that are so clearly sub-standard."

Besides, the production of this upcoming has also been suspended at the Oragadam facility, not for the safety issues, but for the engine problem. As the ET Auto reports suggest that about 1500 engines of Kwid were found with high noise levels. It is also reported that the production of the Kwid has stopped since the issue has come out. Well, the car is already being delayed of its sale, these both will also affect a little.
