It was just two days ago news when Renault launched the heavier engine option (1.0-litre) for its small wonder car, Kwid in the country. And now the French automaker has slightly increased the prices of its 0.8-litre powered models.

On Monday, Renault introduced the 1.0L powertrain in the top end variants - Kwid RXT and Kwid RXT (O) at the price of INR 3.83 Lakh and INR 3.96 Lakh respectively. The 1.0L Kwid is only INR 22,000 costlier over the 0.8 SCe Kwid, and to fill this price gap a bit, company hike the price of smaller models up to INR 6,572. Furthermore, now this slight price difference makes the bigger one more attractive option to choose.

This is the second time when French auto major has increased the price of its SUV styled small hatchback, Kwid in the country. First was, when the Government of India imposed a 1% infrastructure cess on the small cars having an engine displacement of 1,200cc or less in the Union Budget 2016 earlier this year.
Well, that price hike did not affect the sales of the small Kwid at all, but this one might. Moreover, may be the company is looking forward to offering its small package only with 1.0L engine option in the near future.
