Renault to Hike Car Prices by Two Percent Across the India

The French auto-major, Renault has announced a price hike of one to two percent throughout its Indian lineup. The carmaker decided to increase the price after the input costs have hiked. Though, Renault has not revealed yet from when the revised price will come in effect.

“We will be increasing the prices as input costs have gone up. We are currently evaluating the period as when to undertake the exercise. It will be in the range of one to two per cent”, said Sumit Sawhney, Managing Director and CEO at Renault India.

The current lineup of Renault’s India includes entry level hatchback the KWID, the Pulse hatchback, the Scala sedan, the Lodgy MPV and the anticipated compact crossover Duster. Considering the recent reports, rising input costs have bound the automaker to hike the prices of vehicles. Previously, the leading Indian-based auto manufacturer, Tata Motors increased the prices of its passenger vehicles. After that, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors had also hiked the prices of their vehicles by INR 20,000. And most recent, Mahindra and Mahindra rose the prices of its passenger and small commercial vehicles by up to one percent from this October.
