Road Focused Ducati SuperSport Launched in India at INR 12.08 Lakh

The Indian subsidiary of the Italian bike maker, Ducati has introduced the street focused replacement of the popular sports tourer, the Panigale 959 in its existing lineup. Both the SuperSport and the SuperSport S variants of the model are provided for the Indian masses at the price sticker of INR 12.08 lakh and INR 13.39 lakh respectively (ex-showroom, PAN India). Desirable can book for the any of the mentioned models at the token amount in between INR 1-2 lakh depending on the dealerships.

With the fitments such as an adjustable windshield, higher set clip-ons handlebar, comfortable seats and lower footpegs, the SuperSport is a tourer-friendly offering with the upright riding position. Other features for rider’s convenient includes ride-by-wire, rider modes, 8-level traction control and 3-level ABS.

The Ducati SuperSport is based on Trellis frame shared from the Monster model and powered by the Hypermotard 939 engine borrowed from the Multistrada 950. The packed 937cc Testastretta L-Twin engine under the fuel tank is rated to generate the peak power of 110hp along with the vertex torque of 93Nm. All the generated power send to the rear wheel with the sport of a mated 6-speed gearbox transmission with chain drive. This similar mechanicals in the same state of tune also does powering duty on the top end SuperSport S variant.

The suspension setup on the base SuperSport model comprises an adjustable 43mm upside-down front forks sourced from Marzocchi and a linked semi-adjustable rear monoshock damper from Sachs. While, the braking for the road focus bike which runs on new alloys wrapped with Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires, comes from dual 320mm semi-floating discs at front wheel anchored by radially mounted Brembo Monobloc M4-32 callipers and a single 245 mm disc coupled with a 2-piston calliper at the rear.

If the SuperSport S variant is considered in terms of suspension and other top end features, it comes embellished with fully adjustable 48 mm TiN-treated forks and fully adjustable rear gas-charged monoshock supplied from Öhlins. Other than this, the variant gets a Ducati Quick Shift (DQS) up/down quickshifter for track use. While a pillion seat cowl is the only differentiator between both the variants in terms of cosmetics.

At the rivalry front, the SuperSport will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 1000 and the Suzuki GSX-R1000F.
