Second Generation Hyundai Creta to Host Seven-Seat Variant

Hyundai recently teased the facelift 2017 Creta crossover on online ahead of its official debut at the 2016 Sao Paulo Motor Show and now a fresh news has been all around that the automaker has been actively working on a second-gen unit of the same. Well, with the ever increasing popularity among the buyers for this car, it is obvious to have a next generation model. But, what’s the interesting thing about the car is that it will possibly be offered as a 5-seater and a seven-seater option.

According to the Autocar India, the company has already commenced working on this new-gen variant that might get launched in the year 2021. Besides, nothing has been revealed officially by the company yet, it might get disclosed any soon. Currently, Honda is offering the seven-seater variant in the similar segment i.e. BR-V. There is also a list of cars available in the local market that has an option for seven occupants, but not in the same segment, namely Scorpio, XUV 500, Nuvosport, TUV 300, Toyota Innova, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga among the others.

Mechanically, the second generation model could be featured with some updated powerhouse. As of now, Hyundai Creta is available with a host of variants comprising both petrol and diesel motor guise. The specification of the petrol derivatives includes a 1.6-litre Dual VTVT unit producing 121 bhp of massive power along with 151 Nm of torque. In addition, the diesel guise is powered by a 1.4-litre unit and a 1.6-litre four cylinder mill options, where the former generates 89 Bhp of power and 220 Nm of torque, the latter is tuned to fire out a massive power of 126 Bhp along with maximum torque of 259 Nm. Both, the manual and CVT transmission of the 6-speed gearbox are there.

As a reminder, Hyundai Creta was first launched in the Indian car market back in 2015 and has been performing very well. Recently, the Korean automaker had also introduced an anniversary edition of the SUV as well. With garnering above 1 Lakh bookings since its launch, it has already demonstrated its popularity among the buyers. And now the upcoming facelift and next-gen version would definitely cash more from the market.
