Sixth Generation Nissan Altima Exhibited: NY Motor Show 2018

Nissan exhibited the sixth generation Altima sedan during the New York Auto Show. The Altima is very famous Nissan Sedan in North America. It was first launched in 1993 and from the day till yet more than 5.6 million units of the Altima has sold worldwide by the company. The new Altima was developed by the four prominent Nissan Design Centres including the US, China, Europe, and Japan. The idea behind was to make a complete new-generation vehicle to launch worldwide. The Nissan Vmotion 2.0 concept has worked as an inspiration model in making the new-generation Altima and further, it is taking inspiration from the Vmotion concept.

Alfonso Albaisa, senior vice president, Global Design, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd, explored the thought of development, "When we originally started designing the next generation of the Altima, it was still the company's best-selling nameplate in the critical U.S. market, so there wasn't much pressure to make radical changes." He further mentioned, "Then our own Rogue took off, drawing in new customers, unlike anything we'd experienced before. This gave us the opportunity to rethink the Altima outside the traditional sedan design box and create something more exciting and yet more sophisticated."

The new-gen Altima will be powered by two new engines comprising the 2.0-litre Variable Compression Turbo(first time from the company) and the 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine. The latter gets more than 80% of the parts new and provides more power in horses than the last variant. The company says that the fuel economy of the engine is also upgraded.

Coming to the design, the new Altima is sporty and intense, and the appearance further enhanced by the company's signature V-Motion grille in relation to the boomerang-shaped LED headlamps placed at the front. The rear portion gets the LED tail lamps as well with the boomerang treatment.

The interior of the car also gets upgraded features such as the new 8-inch centre display, and smartphone integration in the form of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The company has also equipped the Altima along with NASA inspired zero-gravity seats, which are known for solid comfort on long drives so it will be quite relieving as for added bolstering.
