Skoda Kodiaq Spotted Without Any Camouflage in Pune, India

Skoda Kodiaq, an all new SUV from the Czech manufacturer, snapped performing test runs on the busy roads of Pune. Notably, the first ever seven seater SUV from the carmaker was completely undisguised and revealing for the spectators. Being considered as the flagship product for the Indian market, the new Kodiaq got listed on the Skoda’s Indian website in April this year. And, various dealers has also started accepting bookings for the same. Reportedly, the SUV could mark its presence at the dealerships sometimes in September this year.

The Kodiaq is based on the same MQB platform underpinned in various model such as VW Tiguan, Skoda Superb and Octavia and several Audis model.

Skoda Kodiaq Spied without any camouflage

Under the hood, the upcoming Kodiaq is expected to underpin the shared drivetrain of Skoda Superb, including both diesel and petrol engine options. The 2.0 litre diesel engine is rated to churn out 177bhp, while the 1.8 litre petrol one spits out 174bhp. The transmission duties for the diesel variants is likely to be handled by a six-speed DSG gearbox and with the petrol mill, it could be taken care by a seven-speed DSG gearbox. An all-wheel drive system for easy manoeuvre on every kind of road conditions is also expected to be given by the auto major.

To keep price in check, the Skoda will manufacture this impending SUV at its Aurangabad based production facility. And, the price for the Kodiaq will fall in the vicinity of Rs 25 lakhs to Rs 32 lakhs.

In terms of rivalry, owing to be locally produced, the new Kodiaq will go in competition with the contenders such as Isuzu MU-X, Toyota Fortuner, Hyundai Santa Fe, Ford Endeavour and the Mitsubishi Pajero at the above mentioned aggressive price sticker.
