Skoda Octavia Facelift to be Debut Next Year

With the continuously growing auto market presence here in the country, the Czech automobile manufacturer Skoda Auto is on a spree to grab the attention of consumers. While the company has already been pacing ahead with impressive offerings in India, the facelifted Octavia will soon hold a top position in the current lineup next year. Yeah! You heard this right, the automaker is reportedly working on a mid-life facelift version of its D-segment sedan, which might make its global debut sometime in 2017.

The ongoing version of the said unit is running in its third generation avtar and it has certain designing cues that resemble to the European Skoda Rapid. Many of us might unaware about the fact that the car was also discontinued in 2010 owing to poor sales but made its entry again as a third generation model in 2013. With the details available, it had sold out only 45,000 units during the time period of 2001 to 2010.

As the reports suggest, the facelifted version of the Octavia will sport some new tweaks and modifications for both inside and out. With the signature grille that is identical to the latest Superb edition, it seems more aggressive and sleek at the front. Moreover, fog lamps and front bumper are also going to have some changes for sure, while no such update is said to be occured in its dimensions.

The inside of the upcoming sedan will be furnished with more legroom space against the ongoing version. In addition, you will also get to see the lately designed infotainment system with a 9.5-inch touchscreen display as well as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth support, etc are also there. Some speculations about gesture control and Audi’s Virtual Cockpit are also flying high, but no confirmation has been arrived yet.

Under the hood, it has a host of engine options ranging from 1.0-litre TSI to the 2.0-litre for both petrol and diesel, however, in Europe. The India-based model could be offered with a 1.4-litre TSI trim, 1.8-litre TSI petrol and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel engine. In terms of transmission, the company may unveil both manual and automatic gearbox  as an optional feature. While the global debut is about to happen next year, the India-spec model could take place sometime later in 2017 or early 2018.
