It was a week ago when we wrote that the Czech automaker Skoda is gearing up for the launch of Skoda Octavia Limited Edition model in India, however, details were limited there. But now, the company has officially introduced the car, which will be sold under the nameplate of Octavia Onyx. Here are all you need to know about this new iteration.
Though the new limited edition model is based on the top-spec Octavia Style Plus variant, it comes with some new cosmetic updates with additional styling and an all-black treatment similar to the ongoing global-based Octavia Black Edition. For such changes, the Onyx is expected to be priced anywhere between INR 25,000 to INR 35,000 more than the top-end variant. Once launched, it will be sold across all the company’s authorised dealerships but for a limited period only. Currently, the regular Style Plus variant costs INR 21.5 lakh for the petrol and INR 23.1 lakh for the diesel (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
For starter, the Skoda Octavia Onyx limited edition gets some updates to the design that includes attractive body coloured spoiler, new decorative foils and door sills, a set of new 16-inch Premia black alloy wheels and black exterior mirrors. Besides, the front nose featuring dynamic honeycomb patterned air inlets looks more impressive than that of the before. In terms of features, it houses Bi-Xenon Projector headlights, 12-way electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory function, panoramic sunroof among the others.
With respect to power, this new sedan is unlikely to get any updates and will continue to be offered with the same 1.8 TSI petrol and 2.0 TDI engine options. The former, which is mated to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic transmission, generating 178 hp and 250 Nm of torque, while the latter is good for 140 hp of power and paired to a six-speed dual clutch manual or automatic gearbox.
