Skoda Recalled 663 Units of Laura to Update ABS/ESC Software

Skoda Auto India has recalled 663 units of Laura sedans model produced between 2009 and 2010. Recalling of Laura model being done by the company to update the Anti- Lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic stability control (ESC) Software on the cars. The owners of these cars will contact directly to authorized Skoda dealers and the software will be updated free of cost.

Alert messages regarding service action is being displayed on Skoda official website, in order to convey its customers regarding updating the software system of the cars. A service campaign has been organized by the company to update the software of ABS/ESC of 663 units of the Laura range of models manufactured in the duration of 2009 and 2010.

The Anti- Lock Braking System Software protects the wheels of a car from locking up as well as avoid uncontrolled skidding, whereas Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Software provides safety to the driver and guides them in directional control.

According to a statement of the company, “Authorised SKODA dealers will contact customers for a service appointment, this activity will be done at no cost to the customer and will take approximately 1 hour.”

In order to replace defective passenger airbag from 1200 units of latest models of SUV, Jeep Compass, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles India have announced the recall of these cars which were manufactured between 5th September to 19th November 2017. So far the total number of Compass SUVs sold in India is less than 1percent.

The number of cars being recalled is declining every year. As per the records of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers, 10 lakh and 8.43 lakh vehicles had been recalled in the financial years 2015 and 2016 respectively which shows the gradual and significant decline in the number of vehicles being recalled. In the year 2017, even less than one lakh vehicles have been recalled till now with only one month left for the year to end.
