Skoda Unveils Re-badged Rapid Monte Carlo as Edition X, Launch Soon

Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo that was pulled off from Indian product portfolio, is ready to launch soon under the Rapid Edition X moniker soon. The reason behind the elimination of Rapid Monte Carlo model was a lawsuit filed by Chandigarh-based Monte Carlo Apparels against Skoda owing to the trademark issue.

Recently the details of the re-badged Rapid Monte Carlo as Rapid Edition X has been leaked through a product marketing manual. The new Edition X features the same premium black styling elements of the Monte Carlo. At the skin, major highlights include sporty black front grille, blackened ORVMs, dual tone black roof rail, tailgate spoiler and a grained diffuser. Other than this, the car sports a special ‘Edition X’ badge and newly designed dual tone machined alloy wheels.

Moving inside, the executive sedan gets all-black interior. There is a new black dashboard, a sporty flat-bottomed steering wheel, and the Onyx Alcantara red and black leather seats. In addition to these, the leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever have red-stitching to contrast with a blacked-out theme and leather seats. The ribbed stainless steel and foot pedals are also in highlighted features of Edition X along with a 6.5-inch ‘Drive’ touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto connectivity.

Under the hood, Edition X will be packed with same 1.6-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines of Skoda Rapid. The 1.6-litre petrol engine option is rated to generate 105HP and 153Nm of torque. While the 1.5-liter oil burner coughs out 110HP along with 250Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be under the care of 5-speed manual transmission for both engines. While there\'s AMT transmission is also an option. in AMT option, the 7-speed dual-clutch (DSG) automatic gearbox for the diesel variant and a 6-speed triptonic (torque converter) gearbox can be witnessed with a petrol trim.

Earlier, the Skoda Rapid Monte Carlo Edition was available on sale at Rs 10.75 lakhs for the petrol manual and Rs. 12.46 lakhs for the diesel manual (both prices, ex-showroom). So, the possibilities are the replacement Edition X will also be tagged with the similar price sticker. The official pricing of the model will be revealed at its launch that is expected soon.
