Specs Comparo: TVS Jupiter Grande vs Honda Activa 5G

Lately, TVS Motors has launched a special edition variant of its most selling scooter, the Jupiter. Named as Grande Edition, this new Jupiter variant is an evolved iteration both at cosmetic and mechanical front. Here in this post, we are going to compare this new variant with the market leader in 110cc scooter segment, the Activa 5G in order to check how they'll perform on-paper specs comparison.

Silhouette and Attributes:

In terms of design language, both the TVS Jupiter Grande and the Honda Activa 5G continue to follow the conservative design philosophy. However, in order to offer a premium appeal over the standard variant, the Grande gets chrome work on the front fender and mirrors. While the Honda Activa is being offered with two chrome strip on its fender since its launch.

The Jupiter Grande gets an all-LED head and tail lamp. Though, the Activa 5G comes with an LED headlamp only. in addition to this, the Jupiter Grande gets special attention from its stitch-like pattern brown seat that contrasts well with a beige floorboard and handlebar. On the other hand, the Activa 5G seems shover with the black seat, floorboard and handlebar.

The Jupiter Grande gets a semi-digital unit with an analogue speedometer and a small digital unit that displays information like fuel level, odometer, trip meter and clock as standard. Meanwhile, the similar unit on the Activa 5G is offered with the DLX variant. A pair of hooks in front is a common fitment with both the Activa 5G and the Jupiter Grande to carry belongings.

Additionally, a 4-in-1 lock set up on the Activa 5G allows the opening of the seat from the switch next to the ignition slot while the fuel filler cap is under the seat as earlier. Powertrain

In terms of power, the Jupiter Grande draws propelling power from the same 109cc, single-cylinder engine of the standard variant. It is capable of spawning out the peak power of 8bhp along with 8Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the Honda Activa 5G uses 8bhp along with 9Nm from powertrain of almost similar capacity, a 109cc, single-cylinder engine. wherein the torque is slightly more than the Jupiter Grande Edition that makes it torquey comparatively.

Underpinnings

The Jupiter Grande stands on 5-spoke, 12-inch wheels while the Activa 5G uses 10-inch steel wheels. Both the scooters come shod up with tubeless tyres as standard. The Jupiter gets a conventional telescopic front forks while the Activa uses a linked suspension up front. while at the rear, both scooters get a mono-shock suspension.

The brake setup on TVS Jupiter Grande is drum units as standard. Though, an optional front disc brake setup is also on offer for top specs model. Honda Activa, on the other hand, offers only a drum brake setup. Meanwhile, the CBS system is a standard fitment for both the scooters. The Jupiter avails with the fuel tank of 5-litres capacity while it is slightly large with the Honda Activa stands at 5.3 litres.

The Jupiter Grande is on sale at an introductory price tag of INR 55,936 for the drum brake variant. While for the disc brake variant one has to shell out INR 59,648.
