Takata Airbag Equipped Jaguar and Land Rover Called Back

Jaguar Land Rover has announced a recall for its luxury sedan Jaguar XF and Land Rover Range Rover SUVs in America to replace the front passenger side equipped defective Takata airbags. JLR has now become an addition to the faulty design Takata airbags furnished manufacturer in the world.

In the recall, JLR considered 2009-2011 manufactured Jaguar XFs and built between 2007-2011 Range Rovers in its initial phase. Well, the company is breaking up recall in four phases, but the inadequate parts to perform replacement onto affected cars, bound the car maker to issue a full recall. In its first phase, a sum of 54,000 cars from the total affected 1.08 lakh cars has been recalled from the regions with high temperature and humidity.

First phase regions include Alabama, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, and the US Virgin Islands. These regions are listed on top as the hot and humid climate degrades the airbags really faster that deployment result in the release of metal shrapnel.

JLR owners of affected cars can check out on to www.SaferCar.gov, if their vehicles are in the list of current recall or not. Moreover, the company is also notifying owners by making direct contact and who will get the second notification will be called to replace defective airbags, on the scheduled time.

For Indian affected range of above-mentioned cars, JLR did not say an official word. Here would also be a chance of availability of defective Takata airbags in the country as most of the Jaguars and Land Rovers are imported as CBU units.
