Tata Kite 5 Spied again Testing on the Road in Tamil Nadu

Once again, Tata’s upcoming compact sedan Kite 5 with heavily camouflaged body clicked on camera at the time of doing test rounds on the road in Tamil Nadu. Based on the company’s Tiago hatchback, it was first showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo, New Delhi and slated to be launched during the festive season of this year. Earlier, a Blue shaded variant of the said unit has also been slipped out on the internet and become a talk of the town for its imminent launch in the Indian auto segment.

If we compare the car with other compact sedan like Volkswagen Ameo, we won’t find much dissimilarities in terms of dimensions, apart from the length which has got similar number as Ameo, i.e 3995 mm. Despite the similar length, it will come out with a best in class boot space of 420-litre, which is around 90-litre higher from the former unit. Some of the notable safety features have already been revealed at the Expo that are - dual airbags, Corner Stability Control, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), etc.

If the rumours turn out to be true, it will get furnished with an 8-speaker 2-DIN music system with AUX, USB and Bluetooth connectivity, while a touchscreen infotainment system could be added with the higher trims. Besides, to compete with the likes of Ameo and upcoming Chevrolet Essentia, it might also offer some most attracting as well as contemporary features.

On the mechanical front, it is going to be available with both petrol and diesel engine options. While the former will be powered by 1.2-litre three cylinder mill and generate 83.8 Bhp of power at 6000 rpm with 114 Nm of torque at 3500 rpm, the latter will be treated with a 1.05-litre turbocharged motor, makes out 69 bhp of power and 140 Nm of torque. Both the powertrains will also be amazed with multi drive modes - Eco and City. For transmission, a 5-speed manual unit is there as a standard attachment, while an automatic box is still a mystery to us.
