The automobile giant, Toyota Kirloskar has recently unveiled new SUV version in its India line up with the title, 'Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo'. It is available in pearl white color variant at a price of Rs 31.01 lakh. It must be noted that these prices are ex-showroom prices of New Delhi. 2017 Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo SUV variant has been launched by the company to enhance the Fortuner sales during the festive season. The new Fortuner TRD Sportivo has been designed and created by Toyota Racing Development (TRD) and it is available in 4x2AT variant only. The bookings of the TRD Sportivo are in progress and it is available for showing in all authorized Toyota dealership centres across India.
The Fortuner initially was launched in 2009, autocratic the SUV segment across the country and captured nearly 75 percent market share. The updated version of Fortuner previously was launched in November last year with average monthly sales of 2000 plus units plus and collective sales of 21,000 plus units till now.
Akitoshi Takemura, Senior Vice President of Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd said: “ Fortuner has proven to be a "True SUV" well recognized for its best in class durability, on-road comfort, and off-road prowess. The 2nd generation Fortuner has also continued this legacy with its distinctive, sleek and powerful design backed by improved driving dynamics has received tremendous response ever since its launch in India last year. Our latest festive offering, the 'Fortuner TRD Sportivo' will add more excitement to brand Fortuner. It will certainly make the SUV look sportier and also impose the brand's cult on-road presence and unbeatable performance by providing exclusivity to our customers."
In terms of engine specifications, the new SUV Fortuner TRD Sportivo is powered by a 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine along with six-speed automatic transmission. It delivers a maximum power of 175 bhp and 450 Nm of peak torque. It also comes up with petrol variants 2.7-litre petrol engine. The new Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo have to compete with Isuzu MU-X, Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour, and Volkswagen Tiguan.
In terms of safety aspects, The 2017 Fortuner TRD Sportivo comes up with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Brake Assist (BA), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), vehicle stability control (VSC), speed auto lock along with emergency unlock as well as Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) and absorbing structure coupled with pedestrian protection support and 18 inch alloy wheels.
Other improvements were done by Toyota Kirloskar in 2017 Fortuner TRD Sportivo such as black or red decals on the side, improved alloy wheels in black and silver combination. Inside the cabin, the new SUV variant has been equipped with a black cabin along with black upholstery and floor mats, whereas everything remains the same earlier. It comes up with a unique front and rear bumper extensions which offering a classier and sportier look to the car.
