Toyota Land Speed Cruiser wins the title of World’s Fastest SUV

Toyota Land Speed Cruiser wins a unique title of “ World’s Fastest SUV”. A set of enthusiasts combined all three laws; laws of physics (machinery), chemistry (internal combustion) and biology (human interface) to beat the maximum speed of record. The Land Cruiser comes up with a low ground clearance along with the low centre of gravity. Toyota’s presented Cruiser on the runway at the Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California.

Talking about the engine specifications, Toyota Land Cruiser is powered by a 5.7-litre V8 engine which produces the power output of 386PS along with 544Nm of torque. Engineer’s of Toyota’s Motorsports Technical Center have made some changes in the engine which includes gigantic turbochargers, high powers along with drag racers. To increase in air pressure, the internal engine of the car is substituted with sturdier pistons, custom-made inlet manifold. As a result, Toyota Land Speed Cruiser super- sized SUV was born and produces a massive 2,000 bhp.Toyota Land Speed Cruiser Engine

Aerodynamics play an important role when the car is running on the road. The SUV Cruiser is fitted with Michelin Pilot Super Sports tyres and the frame of the car reduced by 3.0 inches. To beat the challenge of high- speed run, the Land Speed Cruiser is built with the low ground clearance which helps to reduce the flow of turbulent air comes from the below.

Carl Edwards, Former NASCAR Veteran driver was chosen to drove the Toyota Land Speed Cruiser at Mojave Air and Space Port in California for racing. He had just over a 4km stretch to reach the original target of 354kmph. After a running a few miles, Carl managed to achieve a maximum of 370.18kmph. Edwards said after his historic run. “At 225 mph, the thing was wandering a little bit.” Toyota says that, if the runway was longer, the Land Speed Cruiser could have gone even faster.
