Toyota to Recall 6.5 Million Cars with Defective Power Windows

Toyota has recently stated that it is going to recall 6.5 million cars from the global market owing to some defect in the power window. The recalled models are namely Corolla, Yaris, Camry, and RAV4 SUV, whose manufacture took place between the duration of 2005 to 2010. Earlier, the company had to withdraw 10 million vehicles from the market due to the faulty Takata airbags. These airbags led to a lot of casualties and deaths worldwide. This time, it seems like the company has yet again found itself in trouble with this issue of faulty power windows.

There aren't any cases of serious injuries or deaths yet, but reportedly someone has had an injury from the same. This malfunctioning is actually found in the driver side power window master switch. This switch in certain conditions could short circuit, thereby leading to overheating of some parts that start melting. The Japanese automaker has discovered around 2.7 million vehicles in North America along with 1.2 million in Europe to be equipped with this defect.

Irrespective of the country, safety issues have gained the top most priority everywhere nowadays. Several companies have been the victim of such cases when their respective models were found to be fitted with faulty parts. One of these incidents was of the Takata airbags which caused a withdrawal of several cars belonging to companies like Nissan, Honda, Ford, etc. The airbag supplier is still facing legal issues and several law suites have been filed against it.
