Toyota Unveils Prius Prime Plug-in Hybrid At 2016 NYAS

Toyota has finally revealed its new Prius Plug-in Hybrid at the ongoing 2016 New York motor show. According to Toyota, the hybrid Prime offers array its latest technology flagship. The car is claimed to achieve a top-speed of 135kmph, and is capable to travelling solely on battery up to 50 km of distance.

The new Prius Plug-in Hybrid now comes with new LED lights on front and rear sides. It gets a decent wheelbase of 65mm longer than the predecessor, and sits a bit wider and longer too. Toyota has improved its aerodynamics with additional accessories like double-bubble rear window and an automatic radiator shutter which tends to close in case no cooling air is required by the engine.

The roof of the Prius comes fitted with Solar panels, which will be used to charge the battery on the go. Moreover, the gas injection heat pump system keeps the air conditioning working when the car is driven on the battery mode. It hardly takes around 2 hrs to charge the 8.8kWh lithium ion battery. Mechanically, it comes powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine has been tuned for delivering improved fuel efficiency.

The interior too offers some amazing luxury options such as a 4.2-inch TFT screen fitted between the centre console along with a wireless phone charging tray. The automaker has worked on improving the aerodynamic capability of the vehicle. Toyota has added a new double wishbone rear suspension, a lower centre of gravity, and a revised front suspension, and a lower centre of gravity, which furthermore enhances the stability of the car.
