TVS Akula 310 Confirmed, Hit the Indian Market this fiscal

Native Giant-TVS Motor Company has recently confirmed the launch of its highly anticipated TVS Akula 310, by the end of this current fiscal. That simply affirms, the production-ready version of the flagship TVS Akula 310 concept will hit the Indian market by late this year or early 2017.

Since its first appearance at 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, a few days back, a near production ready Akula 310’s test mule has been spotted first time on the Hosur-Bangalore road. Wrapped in camouflage, Akula test mule with a temporary registration number of Karnataka, perceived to fitted with a few components, which were not there on the showcased track oriented concept model.

At an interview, Mr. Radhakrishnan said, "This fiscal, we will launch our 310cc motorcycle. Before the end of this fiscal, we want to do some volumes." He further added, going to be called Apache RTR 300 in future, the motorcycle will share the same jointly developed platform under the partnership of BMW Motorrad and TVS Motor, used in BMW G310R.

In order to attain huge volume this fiscal, the automaker is going to invest around Rs 400 crore this year and Radhakrishnan said, the current production capacity is adequate enough to cater next 18 months market demands.

If powertrain considered, TVS Akula 310 will get the propelling power from the same 313cc, single cylinder, liquid-cooled engine of the naked BMW G310R. Anticipations are, the equipped motor will be able to produce 34 PS of power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm with the help of connected 6-speed gearbox transmission.

Some alterations could be witnessed on the upcoming Akula as compared to the concept model. Speculated changes may include, chassis and subframe assembly, suspension setup and ABS fitting that may be provided as an optional. Likely to be priced in INR 1.50-1.75 lakh bracket, this TVS Akula 310 will lock its horns with the KTM RC200 and bigger rival like KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Yamaha YZF R3 in the market.
