Uber Rolls Out Self-Driven Cars on The Roads of Pittsburgh

Looks like Uber, the leading cab service company, is in a complete mood of squeezing technology and present a delicious and healthy result. The company has rolled out its self-driven vehicles on the roads to serve people. The current scenario has been created just to test that vehicle for their further advancement and detecting issues.

As a safety purpose, a safety driver will always be found on the steering wheel during the testing period of the automotive cars in real-life conditions. Currently, a fleet of Ford Figo fusion fueled up with 3D cameras, LIDAR and a GPS system can be seen on the roads of Pittsburgh, and a fleet of Volvo XC90s will join later on.

The company in their press release stated that “This pilot is a big step forward. Real-world testing is critical to the success of this technology, and creating a viable alternative to individual car ownership is important to the future of cities. We know that many drivers will have questions about this technology. It’s still very early: Self-Driving Ubers have a safety driver in the front seat because they require human intervention in many conditions, including bad weather.”

After getting the proper results and the remaining technical issues get fixed, they will provide ridesharing services with both drivers and self-driving Ubers. This is the first when a fully autonomous vehicle is introduced in the world. But we are a decade away from a complete production of fully autonomous vehicles across the world.
