UM Motorcycles To Introduce Two New 200CC-400CC Bikes This Fiscal

UM Motorcycles started establishing their feet in Indian market with all the possibilities and competitive machine earlier this year. The bike manufacturer launched two models named Renegade Commando and Renegade Sport S model with a price range of Rs. 1.59 lakh and Rs. 1.49 lakh respectively. For the concerned buyers, now the company started rolling out the bikes for deliveries which were accounted at 3000 booking registrations since it first launch at Auto Expo 2016.

For the confirmation, the UM India director Rajeev are said, "We will begin delivery of 3,000 bikes (Renegade Commando and Renegade Sports) from the third week of August and the company will start bookings for its third model, the Renegade Classic this year by Diwali, which was also unveiled at the Auto Expo and is priced at Rs 1.79 lakh.”

There is rumors out now that the American Bike manufacturer will offer two new bikes in the segment of 200cc and 400cc displacement soon as possible in this fiscal year. The company wants to focus on cruiser segment only and this gives a hint that the upcoming models will also be part of cruiser series.

Mr. Rajeev confirmed the same, "We will have two more models in this financial year, one in the 200cc and the other in the 400cc category,"

With all these competitive machines coming in the market, the Royal Enfield which was dominating the Indian geography from decades could see a hit on its legacy.

There is a lot of which UM motorcycles could boast off, their existing bikes are powered by single-cylinder 4-valve liquid-cooled engines which mate to a 6-speed synchronous mesh gearbox and on the top of it, the motorcycles are able to return a fuel economy of 32kmpl with a top speed of 135kmph.

All these mentioned statistics proves that there is a hazard for Royal Enfield machines in near future as soon as UM Motorcycles rolls out in the public. At current UM Motorcycles have a 50-50 per cent partnership with the Indian established Lohia Auto industries which will than retail the bikes in the name of UM Lohia Two-Wheelers Pvt Ltd (UML).

In this step, the American motorcycle manufacturer has also invested Rs. 100 crore in the Kashipur plant of Lohia Auto industries which is able to produce 50,000 bikes per year. The company right now is importing 30 percent of the parts but expects 100 per cent local sourcing as soon as possible.

Mishra said, "The capacity can be scaled up to 1 lakh units per annum as and when the demand picks up." And the local manufacturing can make the bikes cheaper thereby making more competent.

UM is progressing at a very fast pace and the testimony is that it has already set up 50 dealers PAN India on which 37 dealers display their bikes. Also to count, they have registered 3,000 bookings in their first phase and that second phase is already in the queue. UML hopes to build their network strong in the Indian market in coming five years becoming a significant player in Two Wheeler sector.
