Upcoming 2017 Maruti Swift To be Developed at Gujarat Facility

According to a report by the Economic times, the next-generation Maruti Swift will be manufactured at the automaker’s Gujarat Facility. The new facility is situated at Becharaji in Gujarat and is owned at a investment INR 2500 crore by the company. The new 2017 Maruti Suzuki Swift will be based on the carmaker’s new global compact car platform which also underpins the Maruti Baleno. Moreover, the company will also manufacture the India spec Maruti Swift Dzire compact sedan alongside the new 2017 Swift.

Maruti Suzuki aims to ensure double growth rate by the year 2020, by launching the new platform based small cars. The company has also opened several corridors of fresh investments in the field for the sole purpose of expansion and maintaining the quality of the manufacturing facility. Maruti suzuki aims to sell maximum cars and fulfill all consumer needs by the year 2020.

The Gujarat plant will start its full fledged operation from Q1 2017. The first car to be manufactured will be the Maruti Baleno premium hatchback. The facility will double its production rate as per the demands from the international market as well as the domestic market. It is expected that the company would invest more money in order to enhance the facility by 2019.

The 2017 Maruti Swift is likely to be based on the Baleno’s lightweight aluminium-combined platform. This will reduce the weight by 50 kg, making it more aerodynamic and fuel efficient. The ongoing Swift model is claimed to deliver a mileage of 20.4 km/l (petrol) and 25.2 km/l (diesel), respectively.
