Volkswagen India Receives Nearly Half Sales Drop Owing to Poor Show

Volkswagen India has shown poor sales since last 2 year and owing to that it has suffered by more than 50% less sales in the current financial year of 2013-14. The company, with its all subsidiaries, including Audi, Skoda, Porsche and Lamborghini wasn't able to control the decline in the sales chart. However, the subsidiaries did well individually with Audi becoming one of the top luxury car sellers in the country. Now, Volkswagen has focused on launching the India bound cars in the next financial year under its own brand and child companies as well. The campaign started with the launch of Audi A3 sedan in India.

Talking about the numbers, Volkswagen did manage to sell nearly 80,000 units back in 2012, but since then it has been a drought period for the company. It has lost almost 2% of its market share already by the end of 2013. This decline could also be explained by the shifted focus of the company to export its car to the other markets like Mexico.

Mentioning the sales of its child companies, Audi has sold over 10,000 units this year with the making plans to take this number post 11,000. The sales have been improved by 40% from Audi, showing the increasing trend of buying luxury cars in India. However, Volkswagen has seriously need to do something to stay alive in the competition or it won't be too soon that it would be backing off from the largest growing car market of the world.
