Volvo Car UK Introduces New Petrol Engine For S90 And V90

Volvo car UK has introduced a new petrol engine for its S90 saloon and the V90 estate cars.

It is the new T4 engine that belongs to the brand’s Drive-E-fuel-efficient family. Mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, this four cylinder petrol engine is capable of churning out the maximum power of 192PS and 300 Nm peak twisting torque. All the generated power sent to the front wheels to propel the cars. The mill returns decent mileage figure of 14.94kmpl and 14.48kmpl for the S90 and the V90 respectively.

Expectedly, the mill in question could also be introduced into the Indian models as the buyers nowadays are preferring petrol-powered cars over diesel ones. Also the diesel engine vehicles future in the country seems in darkness. Here, the automaker avails both the Volvo S90 and the V90 Cross Country models at the dealerships all the way through CBU route. Therefore, the chances are pretty high as the brand might update the models globally anytime soon. Also, the unavailability of global V90 CC version with this motor also giving strength to the speculations.

Volvo car India only offers the single variant of the models with 2.0-litre diesel engine option. If the T4 petrol motor variant introduces in Indian lineup, it will be less expensive than the on sale diesel engine variant. Here, to purchase a Volvo S90 D4, you have to spend the sum of INR 57.96 lakh. While, the V90 CC D5 is available at the price sticker of INR (63.99 lakh (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi).

The models such as the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5-Series, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF are the competitors for the S90. While, the V90 CC combat with the Audi Q7 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC in the segment.
