Volvo S90 to Enter Indian Shores by Q4 2016

The upcoming Volvo S90 that was expected to make its first appearance globally at the Detroit Motors Show 2016 in January, has been unveiled in Sweden recently. This sedan is going to replace the S80 model and will rival the cars like Mercedes Benz E Class, Audi A6, BMW 5 Series and Jaguar XF in the global automobile market. Just like the XC90, it will also be adopting the company's new design language and will utilise the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA). In Indian market, it will be launched by the fourth quarter of 2016.

Talking about the exterior, the fascia is highlighted by its signature grille flanked by Thor hammer headlights, which are hard to miss. Further, the bulging on the bonnet imparts a masculine appeal to the vehicle. The rear end sports c-shaped tail light cluster that is integrated into the boot lid and elements like shoulder line, flared wheel arches and low roofline complete the package.

The interior boasts of a hi-tech ambiance like any other luxury saloon. At first look, it will remind you of the XC90 interiors in terms of layout and design. The essential fitments like multi-functional power steering, touchscreen infotainment, adjustable seats and leather upholstery are found inside. There is Volvo's Pilot Assist feature installed inside that senses an object in front of the car and warns the driver and even provides assistance in braking.

The sedan could be rolled out with variants named T5, T6 and T8. As far as the powertrain is concerned, internationally it will get a T8 twin engine plug-in hybrid, whereas in India it will be fitted with a 2 litre diesel engine borrowed from XC90.
