Whoop! World's First Ever Commercial Flying Car on Sale

Often stuck in the jams, engage the air-mode of the car and flew away! Not really by the current one you own, but now you can buy one, a flying car if the price tag doesn’t bother you.

Yeah, that’s undoubtedly true. The world’s first ever air-legal commercial flying car, the PAL-V Liberty is now on sale at the sky-high price around £4,25,000 (closely to INR 4.18 crore). The makers of this car-cum chopper are believed to deliver the first production unit by the end of 2018.

Let me introduce the manufacturer, PAL-V International B. V. is a Dutch-based roadable aircraft designing company which is established in 2001.

Robert Dingemanse, PAL-V's CEO, said, “After years of hard work, beating the technical and qualification challenges, our team succeeded in creating an innovative flying car that complies with existing safety standards determined by regulatory bodies around the world.”

The company says it “pivotal time in aviation and mobility history” and also claims that its first-ever production car Liberty meets all the existing standard norms.

The high-end Liberty Pioneer Edition is listed on the company’s official web page carrying a price tag of $5,99,000 (INR 3.78 crore) which is excluded the taxes. The package also includes flight instruction lesson, power heating and personalisation option.
Only 90 units of the Liberty Pioneer Edition will be produced, out of which approx half will head to Europe, flying carmaker says. Once after the deliveries are done, the PAL-V will launch the Liberty Sport model.

According to the information available on the company’s website, the Sport version will be less costly with a price tag of around $3,99,000 (approx INR 2.52 crore) before including taxes. However, it does not come the same level of personalisation option that offered in Pioneer Edition but it includes the flying lessons.

PAL-V claims that it takes around 5 to 10 minutes to change from road car to aircraft and vice versa. The noise coming out of the Liberty is just like that of a small fixed-wing aeroplane, this is what carmaker said.

On the mechanical front, the engine delivers a maximum power of 100.3 hp has a top speed of 160 kmph on the road. The car is capable of completing the 0-100 kmph sprint in 9.0 seconds and returns a claimed fuel economy of 10.97 kmpl.

In the air, the Liberty can go up to a maximum altitude of 3,500 meters. Its flying engine churns out the maximum power of 199.7 hp which can propel it up to a top speed of 179 kmph. The carmaker claims its range up to 498 kilometers.
