Yamaha India Recalled 902 Units YZF-R3 Sportbikes

Two weeks earlier, Just ahead the Japan recalled of Yamaha YZF-R3, now the Indian arm of Yamaha called off 902 units of the same YZF-R3 for inspection with the doubt that sold bikes in India might be affected by the defective clutch pressure plate and oil pump function. According to the automaker, the probable faulty lot has been manufactured during 19th March 2016 and 19th May 2016. However, the company unveiled that they didn’t get any information regarding any mishappening with any rider in the country.

"A total of 902 bikes will be recalled in India under Yamaha's factory modification campaign, where the affected motorcycles' defective parts will be replaced with a modified one on 'Free of cost' basis at Yamaha authorized dealers," a company official revealed.

Mechanically, the YZF-R3 quarter litre motorcycle gets power from a 321cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine that generates the maximum power of 41.4bhp at 10,750 rpm and peak torque of 29.6Nm at 9,000rpm. The engine setup is linked to a six-speed transmission.

The Indian Motorcycle award winner of 2016, Yamaha YZF-R3 was officially launched last year in August at the price of Rs. 3.25lakh. The YZF-R3 has been brought up via Completely Knocked Down (CKD Route) from Indonesia. Notedly, the committed Japanese venture for offering quality after sale service had recalled over 15,000 sports bikes globally, which include YZF-R3, YZF-R25, MT-320 and the MT-250 which were affected by the similar clutch pressure plate and oil pump function.
